We’re excited to announce that Wisconsin Indoor Cycling has generously offered their indoor training facility to our women’s cycling club.
Starting December 14th, 2014 Spoke Haven will be hosting a monthly women’s indoor ride. The sessions will take place every second Sunday of the month through the Spring and will start at 3pm in the afternoon.
The first session will be an Intro to Indoor Cycling. Topics covered include how to install a trainer skewer on a bike, how to install a bike on a trainer, what trainer accessories are recommended for indoor riding, and what types of goals you can set for yourself with indoor training, as well as the benefits of indoor training. The first session will also include a 30 minute ride.
Attendees must bring their own bikes, bike clothes, and any other accessories (cycling computers, etc.) they prefer to ride with. Trainers, towels, and water will be available on site. Summer riding clothes are recommended!
Subsequent rides will be a range of structured workouts, movie viewings, themed rides, and an overall way to enjoy indoor group riding!
There’s a suggested $10 donation per rider per session. Donations collected will be for the Spoke Haven Bike MS Best Dam Bike Tour team for their Summer 2015 ride.
All attendees will also have the opportunity to get 20% off from Cycle Ops towards the purchase of a trainer from the Cycle Ops online store. Cycle Ops is the official trainer brand of Spoke Haven and Wisconsin Indoor Cycling.
Space is limited to 30 riders, so please RSVP on our Meetup page or by e-mailing: firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line, WISCONSIN INDOOR CYCLING.
A special Thank You to Aaron and the crew over at Wisconsin Indoor Cycling for supporting Spoke Haven’s mission and supporting women’s cycling!

There’s not one, but TWO fantastic opportunities for Madison area cyclists to learn about cold weather riding. The first is Madison Bike Winter’s Annual Fashion Show. The fashion show is open to the public and is being hosted at Machinery Row Bicycles.
The show starts at 5pm this Sunday and is BYOB!
Fashions covered in the show will include everything form high-tech, top notch new items from a variety of manufacturers to great D.I.Y style outfits and finds from your local thrift store.

The second event is being hosted by the Wisconsin Bike Fed, Women & Bicycles, and Spoke Haven.
Join us November 12th (Wednesday)
7pm at the Wisconsin Bike Fed’s Madison Office
There’s a Women’s Winter Bike Panel consisting of ladies who work in the local cycling industry or have extensive experience with year round bike riding.
Topics covered will include clothing choices, accessories for on the bike, what types of bikes work best for winter riding, and any other topics attendees care to talk about. There will be a short introduction and overview from each of the panel members, then the rest will be open discussion time to allow for a range of questions.
Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for all attendees. There’s also a small raffle package that each attendee will automatically be entered to win with some bike related goodies to get you on your way to riding through the winter!
We’re hosting a women’s hands on fix a flat clinic this coming Tuesday, July 29th at the Wisconsin Bike Fed Office (409 E. Main St., 2nd floor). Join us along with Team Luna Chix Madison for an in depth demonstration and a hands on learning experience to learn not only how to change a tube, but to repair flats while out on a ride.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a wheel and any tools they may have to help with the hands on learning. This includes tire levers, patch kits, as well as a frame or floor pump. We’ll have some extra tools on hand for anyone that may not have a riding kit available. Also at the event we’ll have some items for sale if you are in need of tire levers, patch kits, etc. so bring cash! We do have a card swipe if need be 🙂
The clinic will start at 6:30pm so come a little early to park your bike or your car. There’s free on street parking after 6pm. Beer and wine will be provided thanks to the Wisconsin Bike Fed and Team Luna Chix Madison.
You must RSVP to the event at the above link. We don’t have enough space to accommodate a very large crowd! If you can’t make this event, please e-mail us through the contact info on our website and we can get you information about future events.
