Video three of my collaboration with Fitchburg Cycles is out now! This video covers that actual removal of a tire as well as replacing a tube and how to air it up using a pump. I go over using tire levers and some other tips on how to make sure you are correctly installing a replacement tube and the tire back onto your bike rim.
Check my previous posts on here as well as on YouTube for videos on gearing up for a ride with a tool kit as well as how to remove a wheel from a bike which covers detaching brakes and how to deal with a rear derailleur.
We’re hosting a women’s hands on fix a flat clinic this coming Tuesday, July 29th at the Wisconsin Bike Fed Office (409 E. Main St., 2nd floor). Join us along with Team Luna Chix Madison for an in depth demonstration and a hands on learning experience to learn not only how to change a tube, but to repair flats while out on a ride.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a wheel and any tools they may have to help with the hands on learning. This includes tire levers, patch kits, as well as a frame or floor pump. We’ll have some extra tools on hand for anyone that may not have a riding kit available. Also at the event we’ll have some items for sale if you are in need of tire levers, patch kits, etc. so bring cash! We do have a card swipe if need be 🙂
The clinic will start at 6:30pm so come a little early to park your bike or your car. There’s free on street parking after 6pm. Beer and wine will be provided thanks to the Wisconsin Bike Fed and Team Luna Chix Madison.
You must RSVP to the event at the above link. We don’t have enough space to accommodate a very large crowd! If you can’t make this event, please e-mail us through the contact info on our website and we can get you information about future events.
The idea of bike in movies seems to be springing up everywhere! Our newsfeed has been blowing up with photos of families rolling into their neighborhood park or couples making a date night out of classic movies being screened.
We’re glad to say that the Madison area will be getting their own series of bike in movie events called Wheels & Reels. Starting this Friday, July 18th Wheels & Reels will be kicking off with a showing of The Princess Bride, undoubtedly a fan favorite for all ages.
The event will be taking place in Fitchburg’s own Gunflint Trail Park (located off of the Capital City Trail). The park can be accessed coming from the West by Glacier Valley Rd. or from the East by hopping off the Cap City Trail onto Gunflint trail. Fish Hatchery Road allows you to access Glacier Valley Rd. coming from the North or South.
The event itself is free, but there will be a plethora of food and beverage available for purchase. Wisconsin Brewing Company will be pouring a great selection of local brews. Bonus: $2 of each beer sold will be donated to the Wisconsin Bike Fed!
Curd Girl and a number of local food trucks will be on hand to dish up some delicious local delicacies. Additional sponsors include RIVA apartments, Green Cab, Ian’s Pizza, High Noon Saloon, Dane County Credit Union, and Mapping Specialists.
Free bike valet will be provided by Madison B Cycle! So mark your calendars and get the family together for a fun night of riding and movie watching 🙂
Not to mention, we’ll be hosting a Fix A Flat clinic for those who want to learn how to be prepared while out on the road 😉
