Who are you?:

Cassandra Habel

What is your role within Spoke Haven?:
I am the founder and manager of the club. I started Spoke Haven because I had a severe lack of friends to ride with and met many other women who were in the same boat. Now I have so many awesome women to ride with and I love it!

What types of riding do you enjoy?:
I started off my cycling “career” as a commuter and had done a few charity rides. I then got into long distance road riding, as well as bike camping and now have caught the mountain biking bug. Any excuse to be on a bike is wonderful!

What is a fun or unique fact about you?:
I was born on my mom’s birthday. I’m also an ambassador for Liv Cycling, the largest women’s cycling brand in the WORLD. I’m super excited about that. I also worked as a live sound engineer for bands, which not many women do that or have done that!

What is your favorite Mexican style food?
I love it all, but I would have to say authentic style tacos. Tacos allow you variety and they are delicious, always.

Who are you?
Dee Hughes. I’ve been on my bike as an adult for nearly 20 years and enjoy every minute of it. Despite the fact, that I’m originally from the Chicago-area, I am a consummate Badger and the Packers fan.

What is your role within spoke haven?
I’ve been riding with this awesome group of of ladies since Cassandra organized the 1st CycloFemme ride. With the group, I like networking and helping other ladies gain confidence in their road riding skills.  My motto as a ride leader “We’re not lost, we’re just making memories”

What types of riding do you enjoy?
Of course the weekly Spoke Haven rides are a fave!  I really like the camaraderie of the group and our now famous Taco Tuesday Rides.  I am also a bike commuter riding to campus from McFarland; can’t wait to take you all for a ride on the new Lower Yahara River Path.

What is a fun or unique fact about you?
I love swimming and, a few times each summer, will swim across Lake Waubesa.

What is your favorite Mexican style food?
Vegan tofu tacos – extra spicy.  And, yeah, a margarita on the rocks with salt.
